The release date of Episode 1 is closer to A New Hope than today.
The majority of the Star Wars era has been pre/sequel.
I mean, the distance between my youth and the 1950s is analogous to the distance between today’s youth and the 1980s.
Time marches ever onward. The only difference now is that we have more access to the more recent past.

He probably means “respect” in the militaristic sense.

I know that there have been plenty of video essays critiquing the sequel trilogy, some better than others. But if you want one more, I think this one makes a good point about each movie and the new trilogy as a whole attempting to be antidote to what has come before that isn’t the original trilogy.
