So season’s over. I enjoyed it, but the wait…

Now I’m out of shows for a minute I guess.

So if you’re willing to actually go to mcdonalds they’re bringing back the szechuan sauce for one day only.

I think it’s worth it so I’ll be heading in to try it.

I think it’s entertaining that they’re doing like some kinda promo where they give posters away for each sauce and that the one for the szechuan sauce is as rick and morty as it can be without associating it with actual rick and morty.

That ending had me squanching so hard. But yeah was a good end really. Over all enjoyed this season. Now for the wait. It can go on the calendar next to the Venture Bros.

Show is still great, but man some people are doing some really stupid shit over sauce.

Jesus, I love this show but the fanbase is getting really toxic really fast.

The show appeals to teen nihilist/atheist types who see Rick as role model, so the fanbase is concentrated r/atheism.

A bonus post-season short has been released on Adult Swim’s YouTube channel.

  1. I think this is a bad idea in the long run. Aiming for syndication for an animated show is just nuts, especially when we’ve watched how quickly animated shows lose their luster if they go on for way too long. There are very few exceptions to that rule but none of them were given a syndication/several season deal. At the most, shows like Simpsons/Family Guy that had built-in audiences had like two/three season deals (WAAAY past their prime)

  2. This could fizzle out like what happened with Community where Harmon was kicked out and his public history with being hard to work with and deadlines is a big deal.

  3. If that happens, I think Roiland needs Harmon to elevate Rick and Morty beyond Adult Swim fare. Roiland’s other stuff is shocking/rambly material that fits Adult Swim’s MO but I think would be detrimental for what the show has been able to say and accomplish.

  4. This could work if Rick and Morty is given the creative freedom that say The Venture Bros has, but it’s still the biggest commitment that Adult Swim has ever made.

  5. Harmon has stated how the Rick and Morty fandom has jaded him a bit on the show and I think that may just increase overtime considering how much analysis and reaction came from Season 3. Season 3 is still a really good season, but easily the weakest where the formula got a bit more tired. I don’t know if that’ll turn the public against R&M since there’s still a lot of support but I could easily see that snowballing out of control.

I think part of what makes Rick and Morty good is that it’s reletively rare. There’s only a few episodes per season, and those episodes concentrate down the goodness and spread it over as little bread as possible. I feel like a huge order like this is a bad idea unless it’s mad open-ended and Harmon and Roiland can keep it together.

In other words, I’m not sick of Rick and Morty, but I bet I will be 70 episodes from now.

You guys, just take what you get, if it’s good watch it if it’s bad move on and complain about it. Pre-judging a show that is a lot of fun already, cause it has been pre-approved for 70 eps is totally an internet thing to do. Go watch a Star War or something.

I can do both. I contain multitudes.

There’s a lot worth commenting on for an ambitious animation deal like this. Creators involved, Adult Swim’s influence, the popular opinion of fandom at the moment…

Hell, the only other venture I’ve seen for an animated show like this is Dragon Ball Super.

This is a comic, BTW, not a reskin of a board game.

Justin Roiland has a new series in the works called Solar Opposites. It was pitched to Fox three years ago, but now it’s going to Hulu with a 2-season order. It’s set to premiere in 2020.

Check out some sketches here.
