"Metal" is the best thread title here

I’ve worked in NYC for over 15 years and have lived here for 10. I have never seen a metal band busking anywhere. The closest I ever saw were some kids playing hard-ish rock on a sidewalk during Summer Streets.

Finally, someone done did it.

The only thing is their homeboy in the denim battle jacket with the fancy camera rig kindof gives it away if anyone’s paying any attention.

Then again it’s NY and subway eye contact is punishable by death.

I don’t care about the duplicity. IMHO they should have just gone in the subway and played metal. That’s enough on its own.

Absolutely, that was the most boring part of it.

Just get a nice ripper of a show started and open up a little circle pit away from the platforms.

This is a nueral network that procedurally generates technical death metal and streams it on YouTube 24/7. It “learned” to play from the band Archspire. Will probably be a TotD this week.

Even though it’s at shitty Terminal 5, it was so lit the last time they came, I can’t not go.

!! If you read the fine print apparently the final two shows in Portland and Seattle are supported by THE HU, instead of AVATAR.

Curious what the metal heads think of folk punk band We The Heathens going electric.

Domestic violence warning:

Katy DiSanto uploaded video of her husband David DiSanto, of the band Vektor, violently abusing her, got a court order, etc. and has setup a gofundme.

So anyway I’ve fallen waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind in my metal consumption these last few…years. Life has been slammed and unkind and so on.

I’m fiiiiiinally getting back around to putting more good shit in my ears.

So, here’s my current jam, Uada:

They’re a straightforward black metal band, somewhat in the vein of Mgla or something like Nachtmystium. Really good tension and melodic elements, and that delicious dark despair that I love so.

Optionally, if that’s too pleasant and approachable, I recommend this gem:

Love to get me some Mgla-like sounds without all the Nazism.

I mean they’re not directly a Nazi band, they just work with Nazis is all.

sigh

Apparently this is a huge problem in Poland. If you’re in hard rock or metal, the odds are you have to work with a Nazi. I ran into this with fucking Riverside of all bands - here’s your quiet definitely-not-Nazi prog rock band, and their drummer also drums with like five overtly Nazi bands (like Sunwheel/Swastyka, for example).

It’s fucking garbage and I hate it.

I still don’t understand how Poland, the place the real nazis invaded first, ended up so far to the right.

This is what truly baffles me about the current political climate. There are still tons of WWII vets around. There are still uninhabitable areas covered in landmines. How the fuck isn’t there a continual outcry of “i didnt give my life for my children to watch nazis on youtube”?

As of last year there are < 500k US WWII veterans alive. People that old are dying off. The people one generation younger than that are the problem.
