This, to me, is one of those small things to try to look good. How much does this actually hurt GA? Not much. How much does it hurt MLB? Not much.
If MLB actually believes in voting rights they should remove the entire Atlanta Braves from the state. No professional baseball game which they control, major or minor league, should be permitted to be held in the state of GA as long as the law exists.
If you gave me Bezos’ job I’d refuse to allow anyone in the state of GA to shop on Amazon. McDs could suspend all franchise agreements in the state, etc. That’s what it would look like if corporations really cared instead of just doing small things to make it look like they’re the good guys.
I briefly went to the zoo that was /r/baseball like an hour after the announcement and has a no politics rule today. It was exactly what I expected.
I’m not against a “no politics” rule in this case, purely to save the moderators’ lives.
I don’t think you need a no politics rule there. Just think of it as an opportunity to ban all the bad people who unmask themselves.

I am shocked, shocked that this organization is mealy-mouthed on racism.
They have a ‘no politics’ rule all the time. It’s just that having that rule plus very visibly political news that’s on topic for the subreddit caused the mods probably more headaches than it would have if they’d not had such a rule.
Has there been a request from someone “in the know” about a boycott? Like, if Stacy Abrams says “Boycott Georgia!” I’m on board, but I don’t want to start rejecting shit from GA just because.
