Yes although you can also intercept it through Hangouts, which is indeed very convenient overseas.
Oh really? So like regular calls just ring with hangouts? They get like a regular call on their end and I get a hangout. That’s really gnarly. I’mma see if I can get that working.
Google requires a “real” phone number to be associated with the account.
There was a time where you could wholly port an existing phone number into google, such that there is no other number and no other phone of any kind.
It was a thing they did with Sprint as a pilot program, and it was amazing. Then they suddenly killed it after like two years and I had to scramble to get my number ported out.
The things you pay for (g suite) don’t disappear quite so fast.
But you can always set it up with a real number and then turn off the forwarding. I did set mine up before that requirement, but I recently set up one for PHil.
