Dropped last night at 3am Eastern. I considered staying up but being over 30 that little sleep would make me miserable.
Got a nice spread of charcuterie, cheese, dried fruit & cordials to eat while I watch.

Watched The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.
I highly recommended this show. Itās a no-bullshit dark fantasy, full of grim tidings and desperate hope. I thought I would love it primarily because of nostalgia for the original film, but itās good on its own merits. The Skeses are villainous and nefarious, but sit right on the edge of being sympathetic, making them truly compelling.
And the fucking Chamberlain is such a douche. I love it.
Itās a better Star Wars story than every Star Wars film combined.
Do any of the Skeses wear a gold bikini?
Thereās a scene in a bathhouse, just sayin.
Joe Pera Talks with You can best be described as mumblecore comedy. Moments of down-to-earth, bizarrely authentic sentimentality are punctuated with outrageous punchlines all delivered by a man channeling Mr. Rogers.
So I watched the series āOsmosisā on Netflix. It was a tense & dramatic exploration of co-dependence, compatibility, and certainty & risk in love in a French futuristic setting. Iād say itās worth watching, beautiful, tragic, and consistently heavy.
Altered Carbon Season 2 dropping in Feb.
Derry Girls. This show is absolutely hilarious!
Just watched Messiah on Netflix. Enjoyable geopolitical-religious drama, good character development, nice playing around the is-it/isnāt-it supernatural elements.
Currently watching this Korean game show called, The Genius. Itās really rad. Most game shows as far as I know are just trivia/guessing shows (Jeopardy, 1 vs. 100, Deal or no Deal) or some physical challenge game show (Ninja Warrior, Survivor, Takeshiās Castle).
The Genius however is all about games that require logical and mathematical deduction, strategical thinking, political alliance building and cunning deception, and sometimes a bit of luck. They take multiple people from various different backgrounds and they each compete in one game per episode. Winners get immunity (sole winners get two immunity tokens that they can give to another player) and last place gets picked for a death match with a person that they choose. Games also use in-game currency which represents prize money that they can use for certain benefits depending on the game, or used to bribe or strike deals with other players. Also, the games can get pretty complicated due to all of the rules for some of them. Sometimes I find myself pausing just to make sure I understand the game and whatās happening with the players and why they chose certain strategies.
Itās a fun show, and Iām about to finish season two.
I love how Alex Horne tries so hard to be helpful whenever people ask but withholds any advice or intelligence, he ends up in so many scrapes just because heās trying to help with some badly reasoned solution. The show really showcases how different people try to solve problems using very different thought processes.
Yes, another recommendation for Task Master from me. We are binge watching it at the moment. The first three complete seasons are on the official YouTube channel. From there on you have to find it elsewhere.
The genius is having a game show with the same contestants for six-eight episodes in a row, not swapping people in and out, which allows for the development of chemistry, running jokes, storylines, etc.
Give it a go! The first episode is a bit rough, editing-wise, but even by the second episode itās already hitting its stride.
Bodyguard (Netflix) is a pretty good BBC thriller. British politics, political theater, conspiracy, state surveillance, corruption, police & veteran drama.
One season, potentially a second.
TW: (possible) woman in fridge-ish, Jihadism, PTSD, suicide.
The 00s call M āMumā, donāt they?
Season Two of Killing Eve was good, but not quite as good as season one. Without wanting to give any spoilers, it seems like the premise of the show can only go so far and theyāre really stretching things in Season Two to the point where it didnāt felt as tight and focused as the first season.
While I still enjoyed Season Two, hereās hoping that Season Three will be tighter and focused.
Agree. I think they could have been more creative with it, premise or not. The finale was shockingly anti-climactic. Still going to watch next season with the same hope.
I imagine itās region locked but if you have a vpn or something the whole thing is available here: Taskmaster - Series 1 - Episode 1 - Melon Buffet - UKTV Play
Was listening to a recent interview with L Word cast (Recode Decode) & Ilene Chaiken sounds like an old. They were discussing representation in a way that didnāt really own their mistakes or seem to actually understand what makes representation important. Chaiken just kept saying āItās trickyā (paraphrasing) like she didnāt want to fuck up on air. Too bad, but also unsurprising.
The Good Place was kind of perfect.
The ending was done so well.
