You mean like this RSS feed of things of the day links that has existed for as long as the current web site has existed?
Ohh, I was thinking it would have been in the podcast feed and didn’t even think to look for a separate one. I should have scrolled down.
When did twitter links stop expanding?
I only noticed about a week ago, but I think it was happening on and off before that.
I think Twitter changed its behavior regarding t.co. I had to do browser shenanigans also because my pihole blocks t.co.
The lack of Tweet Expansion really diminishes the usefulness of sharing a tweet here.
I looked into it. I thought maybe it was an issue with the discourse itself. But apparently it may be an issue with Twitter API keys. I’ll see if I can do anything about that.
Testing twitter embed:
Looks like problem is solved?
Boy was it a pain in the ass. You have to apply for Twitter dev access now. They kept sending me back a form letter saying I didn’t provide enough info. I had to go back and forth with that automated reply several times with several different replies until they finally accepted my application.
However now I have very good Twitter API access, so that’s nice.

Testing with a random Tweet:
Yay! It’s fixed! Thank god!
What’s going on with the expandos. Now none of them work?
I was able to get them to expand by editing your post.
This is like adding vinyls scratch effects to an mp3.
I suppose it’s the best way to disguise compression artefacts.
Have to disagree, specific grain patterns and their size are a bit of an aesthetic choice in many chases and also a result of the lighting and film chosen for each film. Historically grain is what differentiated movies shot on film vs digital. Think of the grain as brush strokes in a painting.
I don’t think film can compare to painting as you suggest. In the case of a painting, the texture of the brush if part of the art. Unless you’re painting in microsoft paint.
I physical painting is 3-dimensional. So that texture has an appreciable quality.
In film and photography, grain gives the eye something to focus on, where within the image there is smooth/ low frequency detail.
Since the grain is present throughout the image, your eye can better appreciate the contrast between sharp and smooth. Can also create the illusion of sharpness where there isn’t any.
You can do the experiment yourself in photoshop. adding grain (size and amount) vs adding sharpness/ softness. That’s the only value it has.
Adding grain to a digital image is a trick you can do for low resolution images, especially when you’re downscaling to export for the web. That’s why it’s a common action.
There’s a reason Blu-ray of 10 Commandments aint got no grain XD
Nobody wants to see any grains on 1080p Yul Brynner’s face!
I think you’re confused about film grain. It’s a physical property of the molecules on film.
What do you think they shot it on?
Just testing something…
