Honestly it doesn’t bug me that much because I like the mobility afforded by the Palamute, and also I’m very excited to pet my doggo. I’m just about to enter High Rank (gotta clear the last Special License test), so I’m hoping that monsters continue to scale appreciably and hit harder. Magnamalo was the first fight that I couldn’t faceroll my way through, so I’m hoping they continue the trend.
The Blast Dash adds ludicrous mobility to the Gunlance. I love it so much. Swagaxe is now my backup for when I need to cut tails instead of just blowing up a monster’s face.
In Rise I never had a ton of issue with any given monster, except for the big final ones and the three elders they added in the 2.0 patch. Even then I never needed more than 3 attempts before I was able to down them.
After my friends and I “finished” Rise (after the 2.0 patch) we grabbed World/Iceborne on PC and we’ve been pushing through that. It is definitely harder overall.
I think I enjoy playing Rise more than World, but I like World because of what I feel like is a larger variety of monsters that push me a bit more.
like Barioth in World/Iceborne is a beast, in Rise he’s a lot easier!
I must admit, I’m appreciating the better difficulty tuning. I switched to the Hunting horn over my trusty greatsword, haven’t picked up a second and third weapon yet, but I’m doing a little dabbling, and my partner is playing almost entirely switch axe. There’s a bunch of changes I like, and a bunch of things I preferred in world, so honestly at this point, I like them about the same.
Gotta say, it was a cool fight though. After 2 triple-carts I got enough of a hang of her bullshit to manage. Also, Gunlance was the correct choice against her, and I regret my momentary lapse from the Church of BOOM.
