So I need some help from the forum. My local library is going to test having an adult graphic novel section in the library. They are taking suggestions from the readers, and I could use some suggestions if it’s not asking too much.
You’re going to have to be way more specific. Do they already have the greatest hits of all time in their collection, or are they starting from nothing? Is there something particular they are trying to target?
Since you are the one going to the library you should request something you want to read, so you can check it out and read it without having to buy it. What do you want to read?
I would say just do an Internet search for best graphic novels of all time. Also look at the lists of Eisner Award winning books. If the library doesn’t have all of those, or you haven’t read all those, that is where you can start. Once all the easy ones are covered, then you will have cause to go looking for personalized narrower recommendations.
Apologies for not being specific. They are literally starting from nothing. Only two books are in the section so far. The Will Eisner “Contract with God” trilogy and “Maus”.
Well they’re starting right at the top!
Just keep going more in that direction. Seriously just do a search for best graphic novels of all time. Every list you find will already have those two books on it. Just buy the rest of the list.
Here, use this goodreads one. It’s fine.
Look up the graphic novel roundtable in ALA. That will give you a ton of library focused resources you can pass along to get a collection started.
