Scavengers Reign

Has anyone seen Scavengers Reign on max/HBO?

It’s a 12 episode original animated series that looks to be a mix of sci-fi and horror. I saw the first episode so far and really loved it and can’t wait to see more:

I saw the whole thing. It’s a great show that belongs with the other great animated series of this year.

We saw the teaser and then a trailer and it’s near the top of our queue!

I’m currently working through it and, while “horror” is maybe not the word I’d want to use, it is the best I have for it currently. Fans of the Southern Reach Trilogy will mostly likely enjoy Scavengers Reign.

Where did I hear about this show? I’ve had it on my spreadsheet since June last year. This thread is the only hit for it here, and if I didn’t hear about it from GN, I have no clue.

Anyway, I watched a couple episodes. Creepy cool alien planet.

I’m really enjoying it. I think it could make a really cool video game. Using the alien lifeforms as tools to survive is fun idea. This and the risk of the alien lifeforms using you as tool or whatever.

Bad news: It’s cancelled.
Good news: Season 1 has been picked up by Netflix, and if it does well, it could get a second season.

Very nIce! Delightful news! I’m glad more people will get to see season 1. Would love to see more from these creators.

It seems not enough people are streaming the show on Netflix.

PLEASE GIVE IT THE VIEWS!

Why does it need a season 2? It ended. Leave it be.

Nominated for an Emmy.

We’re approaching the end (of season 1) and we’re into it.

I’ll admit I’m more into the likes of Mars Express and that’s more my speed for science fiction lately, but this is a good show.

I still need to see Mars Express but I really liked Scavengers Reign. At least for me, I found the show to be very heavy. Even though each episode was only 22-25 minutes, it seems like they were twice as long. Also, while I normally binge shows, I could only watch about 2-3 episodes of this at a time.

I’ve been trying to figure out what kind of genre the show is. Yes it’s sci-fi, but when you say sci-fi people have a perception that this show doesn’t really adhere to.

Is bio sci-fi a real genre? Bio horror sci-fi?

Regardless, I thought it was really good. I’d love to read some interviews with the creators with how they came up with the biosphere.

I’d love a second season, but oh well. The ending with Kris was very intriguing and open-ended.

Since there won’t be a second season my head cannon with Kris’s fate The people that saved Kris are clearly a cult. I don’t see her being indoctrinated by them but she will play along and maybe even move up in their ranks. Kris will take what she wants from them and then escape or somehow takeover the cult. I’m not sure how that would all tie back into the colonist though. Maybe Kris will want revenge or the cult will want to bring in new followers or both.

The second season will not be happening.

However, the creator posted a test reel of a potential season 2, revealing what could have been.

Well that sucks. The best original animated series to come out of America in forever can’t get a second season and we just elected a bunch of open fascists to run the federal governemnt. Will we ever grow tired of losing?
