We have a cover song thread, why not a remix one.
The regular version of this song is enjoyable but the remix just hits me so good.

Remixes are definitely interesting as they come in so many different flavors and levels. There’s remixes by the original artist of their own work, (essentially an alternative cut) some which simply bring in a guest vocal or guest producer adding a little extra verse or spice to the originial. A remix might be the original song completely reworked by another artist or group entirely, with essentially no new work by the original artists other than it being blessed by the label. Then there’s remix albums which verge on being covers using some samples from the original mix, while others are heavy collabs between the original artists and guests to reformulate all of the works on an album.
Then sometimes we get a remix that is so iconic it redefines what the song is for people, totally eclipsing the original or even replacing it in an album. The Diamonds from Sierra Leone remix as a well known example.
Remix is almost too broad of a topic without some bounds, but, what’s the harm in just embracing all the forms?
I’m looking through my playlists of liked songs and I see tons of remixes. Most of them, I have no idea what the original even sounds like.
