Tonight on GeekNights, we discuss markup languages like Markdown. In the news, Rym posted an analysis of strange noises in Sportsnet NHL streams, the ship that broke Baltimore Harbor has been removed, you can read a paper exploring The consequences of generative AI for online knowledge communities, and there are new iPads.
So I am going through some websites trying to get information on a project and came across a wiki that uses the following sentence:
Editing is quick and easy and requires no arcane knowledge of HTML.
I felt the aging as I read that sentence.
In other markups that I use more often than you would think XML and its various iterations are a big one to learn, especially if you are into middle development. Also if you wondered what libraries were doing in the 1960 take a look at MARC.
