I was just speculating that the drone hysteria might be a precursor to a massive uptick in municipal and federal government spending on drone and anti-drone technology. I think some security contractors are about to make a shit ton more money selling overpriced drones to credulous cops all around the country.
Anecdotally, in their last budget meeting, the small town where I live announced that they’re allocating somewhere between $75k-$350k to replace 3 drones a year over the next 5 years. I couldn’t find the exact cost because the 200+ page budget document only mentions drones once and it’s for licensing fees. But the Police equipment replacement costs, not including vehicles and facilities, was as much as $350k.
