I thought the movie wasn’t getting a trailer? Or is that a different project?
The movie did not get a trailer in Japan. GKids made this trailer for the US release.
While Ghibli can rely on its name recognition alone in Japan, and probably doesn’t even care how well it does at the box office, a foreign licensee can’t afford to distribute it without any marketing whatsoever.
I have tickets for the Spirited Away theatre show next year 
I missed out on Totoro this year, was too slow to book.
I saw it in the movie theater. It was way good.
