I believe Scott and I hashed out some addendum to the community guideline to specifically permit John Brown worship (and by extension worship of Nat Turner, Gabriel, the Stono Rebels, et al).

The official explanation as to why Justice Burke denied writs of habeas corpus was that the jails were packed and the courts could not arraign all of the [I’m not sure what word to use here, so I’ll go with “political prisoners”] in a timely fashion, not that he was gleefully condemning people to rot in jail. The difference between “intent” and “impact” is not so clear.
The Manhattan DA apparently agrees that there isn’t enough time to deal with all the people getting jailed and are releasing some rather than make unforced errors and invite even more lawsuits.

First news: yay? Like this is a bit like the grandpa joe advice to shoot them in the leg not the head… the article even admits it was already banned for the NYPD. Banning particular harmful things the cops can do strikes me as… well fine but not really what I’m after.
Second news: Fucking good.
Third news: Ok we can celebrate wins when they happen. This fucking owns. I’d like to see more and I hope we can push for more but part of organizing is celebrating the wins.
