Fuck the Police

This image will appear in history books in 50 years.

I’ve run into apologists saying that the cop isn’t pointing at the man or child in this picture, which is factually correct, but ignores the very true story that it tells. I’m using this as my litmus test for shitbags - if you try to explain this one away, you’re no good.

Been watching this story for the last week from the UK and finally understanding the depth of the issue of US cops - it’s terrifying and enraging.

These cops need to feel fear or nothing will change. From behind a plastic shield I can’t think of anything but escalation of violence that’d work. Is it defeatist to think this will all simmer down and the best the US can get is a chance to vote in a better leaders? Even then Trump is going over the head of Mayors and elected state officials.

If the military forces start to clash with protesters this is going to get worse. They at least have to follow ROE, but considering the comments on Facebook I see from former and current soldiers I have concerns about that. Otherwise this will probably die out in two weeks.

The history of US policing is heavily tied in with slave patrols after Reconstruction. Lots of people who previously had been on patrol duty joined police forces and they resumed similar activities, perpetuating racial injustice and binding it to the institution of law enforcement.

Gotta grasp at the root.

Kansas City PD keeps escalating. I’ve seen at least one person who has lost an eye to rubber bullets. Mayor tried photo op and damage control yesterday, but doesn’t seem to really be doing anything meaningful.

From what I’ve been hearing, cops across the country are intentionally aiming beanbags and rubber bullets at people’s faces.

They’re also explicitly targeting press too.

And using techniques used in S. America and elsewhere to make sure they can’t continue witnessing, such as aiming for eyes.

That was the plan for November, but things have escalated to the point that that is a slim possibility

Chicago PD uses FM radio on standard HAM bands. It’s very easy to just broadcast loader.

That said I advise you don’t, and I actually mean that, because unauthorized transmitters are easy to locate and local HAM enthusiasts will find you and report you. But a cheap, portable radio like a Baofeng uv-5r works as a scanner.

So you can’t get their badge numbers.

Yeah there’s no way they think people will fall for it, it’s just taunting at this point.

EDIT: deleted the original comment, missed that the tweet was from a while ago.

If it wasn’t posted here, that domain was bought by someone associated with LMPD and redirected to the LMPD Foundation’s donation website.

It’s true, but also, remember to be smart, never broadcast from your house or your place of work, and broadcast in short intervals before moving to another random location. You might not be a registered Ham, but they can still triangulate your position, and they will consider possession of a radio capable of doing it as probable cause. Moving while transmitting is not gonna help, either, they’ll still find you easy.

Doesn’t anyone make cheap essentially disposable radio jammers that could be thrown randomly over areas of unrest that broadcasts random gibberish and memes at random? Maybe they can be set to activate after 15 minutes of triggering or something after which they play for about an hour until the battery dies?

After taking down the police app, Kpop fans are at it again.

Like I said, I don’t recommend transmitting. Detecting receivers is much more difficult (though not impossible).

Oh yeah, for sure, you can buy all sorts of portable jammers on Banggood and similar sites. Don’t know about a timer, and tbh it’s hard to buy them without leaving a paper trail that MIGHT lead to them picking you up, but they are around. I don’t recommend it, they are VERY illegal to use(but weirdly not to own?)

Pardon me, I thought it was an ironic ā€œI don’t recommendā€, like when people say ā€œI hope people don’t use the fact that you can easily escape zip-ties by using a snapped or trimmed off bobby pin to lift the ratchet teethā€, or ā€œI don’t recommend anyone think about the fact that it’s trivially easy to buy handcuff keys online for basically pennies.ā€
