Antennas and Over the Air TV

Really good interview as a primer on getting over-the-air television.

Outside of me who needs it for the occasional news broadcast, does anyone else tries to literally cut the cord for TV use?

Gonna revive an old-ish thread here. My set-up is plex.tv + HD-homerun and it’s pretty great. Live sports and news for my step-dad is a must and we’re saving a ton of money using plex instead of YT-TV.

How’s the hdhomerun these days? I had one some years ago and it was so slow and janky.

I use one in my setup and it just works. I use Jellyfin and am able to get my signals. Waiting for the DRM nonsense to play out before getting an ATSC 3.0 turner to get the new stations in the area.

It runs well. Like @Coldguy said it just works. And the channel guide that plex provides is a great experience on both mobile and on a big TV so no complaints there.

Madlad explains how he was able to broadcast at 4K using older technologies.
