I live in my hometown and work as a design engineer for a local manufacturer. I am married and have a son. I work hard to play hard. I enjoy making music with giutars, bass, drums, and analog synthesizers. I am always ready and willing to play games. In fact, there are typically two board games setup on my dining room table at all times. I actually enjoy reading the rules to games. It reminds me of studying calculus, physics, or chemistry as a student. Listening to Rym and Scott discuss rules, mechanics, and strategy has inspired me to read Charecteristics of Games and dig into some game theory. I learned Founders of Gloomhaven (2018) from the game’s designer, Isaac Childres. A few days later I preordered it from my local game shop. The game is very good - steep learning curve, but simple gameplay. The rule book is terrible however. As such, I’ve been rewrting it. More like, reorganizing it. I’m posting anything ambiguous on BGG in hopes Isaac will clarify. Otherwise, I’m using Rym’s suggestion and trying to write out the game rules like computer code. The process has been enlightening and only made me love this game more. I only discovered GN a few months back while researching game mechanics on Youtube. I really enjoy the thoughtful discussion and share a kindred spirit with the hosts as another child of the 80’s. Good people have found each other on this forum, and I’m excited to have found my way here as well. I’m not very active online - no twitter, fb, snapchat, etc. I never even created a myspace account, though I am on Linked In. I respect Rym and Scott and trust that the community that has gathered here will respect their code of honor, and keep things cool.
