Vote for Kamala Harris

I keep checking NBC/CBS/ABC News. Network news teams like that are the most hesitant to call anything and this year I value that.

That’s some Scott-style language.

I forgot about the forum for like a week haha… Glad to be proud of Pennsylvania again.

Heh, a weird quirk had everyone disappointed/happy with PN for a day or two. Must’ve been a wild ride.

It’s weird cause with Nevada being where it is and on the course that it is there’s no way that Biden doesn’t win it, but I’m still not ready to let my guard down cause that doesn’t feel like a fat enough lady singing.

Fox News called Nevada at the same time:

Biden’s victory speech is starting.

So, presuming Georgia goes the way it has every indication of going, that’s 306 to 214, I think it’s fair to call that a landslide.

Best of luck to the people who are gonna be spending a quiet hour or two deleting some twitter posts from the last few days.

Honestly I don’t think it’s fair to call it a landslide. Mondale regan was the landslidest landslide we’ve ever seen. If this’d been a landslide, we’d have known who won on Tuesday and there’d be concrete democratic senate control, not this mulligan.

This was a solid win, but I won’t even go so far as to say biden has a mandate until we have the senate.

I think we can be flexible on that, due to the challenges of the pandemic and frankly unheard of levels of early and mail-in voting, along with republican interference.

Absolutely. Biden winning and a lot of folks having to inhale industrial quantities of cope doesn’t knock the senate off the to-do list, it pushes it all the way to the top.

I also disagree with calling it a landslide but for different reasons than Naoza. The margins were too thin in too many States for it to have the effect of a landslide, where the candidate is permanently humiliated.

Landslide doesn’t matter. Democracy is democracy. If you’ve got 5 friends it doesn’t matter if 3, 4, or 5 vote for pizza over Chinese food. You’re still getting pizza. Republicans actually understand this, and its time Democracts understood this as well. They lost. They can have what we’re having or they can starve.

I really think it does. Not for the results of this election or for like the day to day gladhanding that comes with being an elected official.

But it matters in terms of what strategies and platforms are viable paths towards ceasing power.

Take the chatter on twitter and article from The Independent talking about how biden should like preemptively pardon trump. Try and show folks that the importance of the office is more important than any individual.

Under normal circumstances I’d agree, and if there’d been a landslide, I’d agree today. The fact that the election was so close tells me that we still got a long way to go and a trump prosecution could actually serve a purpose in helping a majority of americans reject what he sands for.

You’re absolutely right, but counterpoint - Still gonna enjoy the brief chance to gloat before getting back to work, even if it’s meaningless, because it feels good. We’re allowed to do things that feel good without them being purely utilitarian, and we’re allowed to celebrate victories even if they’re not functionally different from other larger and smaller victories.
