Yesterday evening at around 8pm apparently multiple perpetrators opened fire in Vienna’s 1st district, which is the city center. In total there were six incidents resulting in at least four deaths and 15 injured. One of these deaths is a perpetrator who was shot by the police. It is assumed that five more are at large. The perpetrator has been linked to ISIS. It is also questioned whether there was direct targeting of the jewish community, as the first attack started near a popular synagogue, which had been the target of a terrorist attack in 1981.
The attack started shortly before curfew started (in place due to the pandemic). This has been the first terror attack in Austria in 30+ years.
