I accidentally deleted my Peak Moment in Sport YouTube playlist, and when trying to remember what to add to I that I’ve not already shared in this thread, I remembered this:
A great little video about maybe the craziest big-wave ride ever.

Another one from my list:
It’s only let down by the commentators referencing Tony Hawks first 900 (see above) after he lands it. I don’t think you can claim legendary status for moments like these at the time, the legend has to build organically.
Didn’t realize it was already 6 years ago the French guy broke Bubka’s record.
But 14 shorter than the previous record had stood!
This guy is only 20. He can break his own record still.
Guy ran an entire marathon on his balcony.
On a skimboard!? This is absolutely mad!
Chris Froome Tour de France 2016 Stage 8 Climb and Descent
Everyone thought Froome was just a threat on the climbs, and they pretty much designed the Tour to suit other riders better, by making the stages not end with a climb. The descent would bunch up the leading pack again and not give Froome those bonus seconds.
You can see it come good for Froome when they all reach the top and Nairo Quintana is taking a moment to have a drink and the rest of the chasers start fiddling with their jerseys…
Meanwhile:

This is fucking nuts. There is no reason to push so hard just to gain 20 seconds or so, as he could hake that up on the other stages.
Talk about sending a message to his rivals!
Earlier someone posted a Twitter video of an amazing field bowler’s shot. But his opponent had another shot after and knocked away one of his balls but then he followed up with another great shot.
The leading contender for peak PUBG game of the year:
Last night Djokovic and Nadal played one of the best matches of all time, and easily the best set of tennis I’ve ever seen. It was incredible. It featured two players playing their highest level of tennis, but not any two players, but the two best players of all time (and two of the most successful players of all time).
But more than that Djokovic beat a fit Nadal at the of his game at the French Open! That’s literally the most difficult task in tennis! Nadal has won it 13 times! I almost added him winning last year without losing a set to this very thread, but he’d done it before so it didn’t feel like a peak moment, just a continuation of complete domination.
And the match also felt historic in terms of the argument for who is the best tennis player of all time. Their head to head was 29-28 to Djokovic, and now it’s 30-28. Nadal was going for his 21st major title, to put him in the lead of the major title race, ahead of Federer’s count of 20. Now Djokovic is one match away from his 19th major title, just one short of both Federer and Nadal.
There was a curfew planned at 11pm for Paris covid restrictions, but after the third set tie break, the President of France himself called the tournament organizers to tell them to let the curfew lapse, and allow the match to continue without interruption and with a live crowd.
Highlights can’t do it justice, as just the third set lasted 93 minutes, but here’s some clips.
I did about 5 minutes on research on this. Apparently the person who had the current WR for outdoor shot-put has had it for a long time, but also had a history of cheating/PED usage. There have been a handful of people who were getting very close to beating the record recently, and now it finally happened.

Work your whole life for gold medal. Then give it away.
Mondo now has the indoor world record, outdoor world record, Olympic gold, Worlds gold, and the largest margin of victory ever. And he’s 22.
Fun morning in Berlin! A new marathon world record for Kipchoge.
Interesting that the top three times are all in Berlin. Is there something about the Berlin marathon that makes it a minute easier than London or Tokyo? Weather? Terrain? Slight error in measuring the distance?
Everything. That’s why it’s the hunting ground for world records.
Berlin is very low altitude so has good oxygen levels.
It’s in September when the weather is generally mild. Today was overcast and not too hot or cold.
The course is well protected from any wind.
It’s very flat.
Finally it has lots of long straight sections, so not a lot of energy or momentum is lost turning lots of corners.
