GeekNights Endorses Warren

I don’t mind the hate mail. He’s actually agreeing with what we said on the podcast. Literally that so much science fiction (and all media) from previous eras is so rife with sexism and racism that it’s just tiresome and boring to slog through it. And after spending two years making sure I read as many female authors as male authors, it just makes for more interesting reading!

If someone doesn’t even understand why I want to try to read as many words by women as men, I’m not sure how he stayed a listener so long!

Heh, probably because most people who consume the media of this age do so for the people first and the content second. They probably like you from a while back and has been coming for your charming good looks and witty personality and long since stopped critically engaging with the content.

Is “the US should stop supporting fascist coups in Latin America” an extreme position? It should be obvious by now.

I had two complaints, the second of which was Warren calling for a new election. We clearly don’t agree on whether this is a bad thing.

You’re right, my mistake:

Cool, except

  1. People here don’t universally agree with these two points. That’s why I’ve had to say repeatedly that calling for new elections actively delegitimizes the elected president, and argue with people who disagree or claim it doesn’t matter.
  2. Any difference in rhetoric is just “magic words” if you don’t give a shit about what’s happening. If Warren becomes the next president, which is looking pretty likely, then her policy on Latin America will be extremely important. The difference between telling a fascist coup government to stop oppressing indigenous people, and telling that government to reinstate the elected president, is massive.

it’s a fucking tweet not a policy statement, I frankly don’t care if people agree because I don’t assume a shitton based on a tweet

Every day that passes only makes my endorsement of Warren stronger.

Rym, if Sanders’ and Warren’s current delegate counts were swapped, what would you be telling Sanders supports to do right now?

Keep on carrying on. It’s only been two tiny ass meaningless states full of white people so far.

Next time we play a board game and I have a lead of a handful of victory points on turn 2 out of 50 turns, are you just going to forfeit to me? Thanks, that makes my life a lot easier.

Nothing?

Warren is the most qualified candidate in the field with the most fully realized and pragmatic plans for real progress. Nothing has changed that.

Also who else created a federal agency to hold people accountable? And successful at that. Opposite: see Space Force.

Powerful people are definitely more afraid of a Warren presidency than any other viable candidate.

If your favorite candidate is wealthy, they don’t need your money. Also, why are they your fav?

If your favorite candidate is funded by wealthy people, they don’t need your money. Also, why are they your fav?

If your favorite candidate is neither wealthy nor funded by the wealthy, then they are probably a good choice. But oh no, it means they need money. If you can’t spare any, you can’t spare any. But if you can, you can. You can also volunteer. Even if you live in a state that doesn’t matter, you can call and text people who live in states that do.
