Fuck the Police

It is starting to seem likely that the police were responsible for the deaths of at least some of the victims. We’ll have to wait for the investigation to know whether that is true or not.

No resignations?

Why would they? They will face zero consequences.

Maybe there’s at least 1 person who actually has a semblance of a spine. I wasn’t holding my breath.

Meanwhile, the Pakleds are at it again.

If you like The Wire, you will enjoy We Own This City. Spoiler alert: the cops are bad.

Also a lot of Wire actors are back. It’s a little weird to see Marlo, Dukie, and Marla Daniels having a conversation.

We Own This City is tremendous. Don’t find out anything about it, just watch. It’s only 6 episodes.

You should check out the 8-part documentary series on PBS called Philly D.A., about the election of Larry Krasner as a progressive D.A. in Philadelphia, and what happens once he’s elected:

Even NBC News isn’t even bothering to try to show this in a cop-positive light. Of course, they still use the phrase “fatal shooting.” Replace those two words with “murdering innocent citizen” and we’ll be all set.

Roving death squads, enacting judgement on the street as they see fit. They have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Follow-up post about my local former assistant police chief who’s a Nazi. Apparently you can’t suspend cop for being a Nazi and then later decide to fire them after further investigation. Because that would somehow be “Double Jeopardy”, in spite of the fact that he’s not being charged with a crime. So we’re paying this Nazi $1.5 million to resign. Is there any other profession where this would play out the same way? Or is it just law enforcement?

The only ones besides law enforcement that immediately come to mind are:

  1. People with term contracts that you want to end premature, like professional athletes and coaches.
  2. Big time executives that have golden parachutes.

I think it’s pretty clear that someone who uses their power to get a deal that protects them from consequences is someone who expects to do something worthy of consequences.

Just read a local news article, would be more accurately categorized as “police are fucking useless”. It was about a most unfortunate incident a couple of weeks ago where a couple were driving down a highway through a mountain canyon when some rocks (boulders) fell onto their car and through their windshield injuring them significantly, though they fortunately survived.

The quote from the local small-town police department for other drivers includes this gem:

On June 20 following the accident, Helper City Police Department cautioned drivers to be aware of falling rocks in the canyon after rain storms.

“Although there isn’t too much you can do in order to avoid the rock, just be aware it is a problem,” the department warned.

I can think of a few punchlines for this:

“Helper City, where you don’t receive much help.”
“Rocks fall, everyone dies.”
“Can you smell what the Rock is cookin’?”

Can anyone think of any others?
