Speaking of mispronouncing names in literature, in 10th grade English we read “The Cask of Amontillado.”. The teacher, and thus the other students, kept saying “ah-mon-til-lado.” I said I think it should be “ah-mon-tee-ado” since it’s Spanish, to which the teacher snapped “This is English class not Spanish class,” and doubled down on the mispronunciation.
