Star Wars IX will have new stormtroopers.

A redshirt stormtrooper! They probably just spontaneously die, don’t even need to be shot at.

I will give Disney/LucasArts credit, they certainly know how to get you excited about their stuff:

Even the Phantom Menace trailer was terrific. It actually kind of started the whole teaser/trailer culture. Definitely the first one I remember being widely (re)distributed digitally. I had it in a QuickTime mov file and watched it several times. Before then, movie trailers were pretty much only ever seen in the theater before other movies, and maybe sometimes as a commercial on TV.

There was a site I would go to that had bootleg cam caps of movie trailers. These were like 12p resolution and super bootleg…

I did not know of such a site. I was a pleb going to apple.com/trailers which still exists and works to this day. IIRC they originally made that page as a way to get people to install and use QuickTime.

There was a similar site that had 20-ish second .rm files of various musicals. Tons of them.

These were all not sites, per se, but more sitez. They were the same places I downloaded mp3s before Napster really took off.

I remember the distinct joy I had when official trailers started being uploaded to youtube by the distributors and I could remove the only apple software from my computer finally. I distinctly remember quicktime pushing iTunes pretty hard before I was able to stop using it for trailers.

I remember watching the Phantom Menace music video for Duel of the Fates on MTV back in 1998 or so, and how incredibly awesome it looked. I was so excited for that movie. It was so popular that MTV played it like 4 times in a row:

Something is seriously up with Rey’s face with that whole “Flip Saberstaff” scene.

It definitely looks like one side of her face is different from the other.

I went frame-by-frame on it - It definitely looks like they’ve made her more gaunt and pale, that sith look, I guess. Face is as symmetrical as ever, though.

Also, side note - Holy fucking shit ILM. If you look at the reflection of the saber in her eyes, the tiny little reflection of the saber blade flickers and changes in a way that precisely matches the blades of her saber, with each eye reflecting the correct changes for the slight differences in angle. That’s just fucking bonkers.

I don’t think so.

The two-ended lightsaber is basically a bo staff like Donatello the ninja turtle has. The problem with it is that shit is long, so you have to carry it on your back. If it’s actually just two lightsabers stuck together, I see no reason not to fold it up. Now you can carry it on the hip and bring it out to play much more easily. One flip and now you’ve got a staff instead of a sword.

But you know what would be eve better. Just have two completely separate lightsabers. However, put a clip on the bottom of each one so they can combine. Now you’ve got three options. One sword, dual wield, full staff. Best of all worlds.

Jedi Temple Guard lightsaber seen in Clone Wars and Rebels:

Interesting coincidence or salient plot point?
