Rolexes aren’t even all that good. My mum’s partner bought two off a man at a beach and they both had broken within a week!
The presence, quality, and perceived cost of jewelry (along with accessories) can have a noticeable impact on various interactions, whether the other people are conscious of it or not. i.e. People will treat you better or worse based on those items, even when they don’t think they discriminate in that manner. Obviously, it’s also contextual e.g. expensive items in a casual / inexpensive setting and vv.
Whether you think that should happen is beside the point. Jewelry has a function.
The idea that jewelry is non-functional is in some part rooted in sexism which frames feminine coded accessories as an unnecessary a waste of money, in ignorance of their imposed social function. Truly a fate worse than death.
Rangers jerseys made of burlap with the logo drawn in with magic marker.

Unlike the bow tie, which signals to everyone that you are the life of the party.
The bow tie is also useless, even if you are a science teacher.
Time for a proper combat bow tie.
I’m sure there are tactical bow ties.
…
Upon further investigation, there indeed are.
Ban all non-tactical jewelry and accessories.
In comes Maetel with the smoke bomb earrings.
