GeekNights Tuesday - Among Us

Tonight on GeekNights, we review Among Us. It's a social deduction game, but with intrinsic mechanics and surprising depth. In the news, there are unconfirmed reports (now officially debunked) that PAX South has delayed to February 19-21 (which would still be too early to safely attend any convention), and Twitch is trying to milk more money from advertising. Also, we have some early thoughts on 18MEX (which you can play at 18xx.games) and the Resident Evil remakes.

Today at the library I had 6 kids asking for among us books.

Are there any? I’ve not really heard, despite matters, though I don’t pay that much attention to that slice of publishing tbh.

“Here you go, kids!”

We have 2, one is making of and the other a street guide. Amazon has a bunch of unofficial stuff of dubious quality.

To the best of my knowledge, there aren’t any official books? Though I might be mistaken, I’d have to ask. But still, that’s kinda cool. It’s definitely a way to see that a property has made it huge, when they’re selling the knockoff books on Amazon and even in supermarkets and such. I mean, look at how it was for minecraft, there’s just about an entire publishing industry solely based around unofficial Minecraft books.

(Edit: Checked in, there are no official Among us Books, including the Making of. The only making of work they authorized was the Noclip doco.)
